Alternative Breaks

Applications for 2026 Alternative Spring Break (DC) are now open. Applications for Memphis coming soon!

 

 

Join WKU Student Activities on an alternative spring break trip to Washington D.C. (March 14-20, 2026). Students attending will see cultural sites such as museums and the Capitol building. Students will also participate in one day of community service. Cost to student is $400. All meals, transportation, and lodging are included. Spots are limited, so put best foot forward on your application!

Held during the fall and spring semesters, WKU students are given the opportunity to spend their breaks giving back to various community service projects. Alternative break trips incorporate cultural experiences along with opportunities to volunteer across the region. Past alternative breaks have included trips to Savannah, GA; Charleston, SC; Memphis, TN; Tuscaloosa, AL; Mobile, AL; New Orleans, LA; Washington D.C.; and Chicago, IL.  Students are selected on their previous community service work and level of involvement and commitment.
