Applications for 2026 Alternative Spring Break (DC) are closed for now. Applications for Memphis are open!




Washington DC application CLOSED: Join WKU Student Activities on an alternative spring break trip to Washington D.C. (March 14 - 20, 2026). Students attending will see cultural sites such as museums and the Capitol building. Students will also participate in one day of community service. Cost to student is $400. All meals, transportation, and lodging are included. Spots are limited, so put best foot forward on your application!
Memphis, TN: Join WKU Student Activities on an alternative spring break trip to Memphis, TN (March 14 - 20, 2026). This trip will focus on community service with the non-profit, Living Lands and Waters. We will be working with college students from other universities to clean up waterways in Memphis. When we are not volunteering, we will visit other cultural sites in Memphis.
- Applications are due February 2, 2026
- Students will be notified of selection February 9
- The first $50 installment will be due February 13
- Payment will be accepted in form of cash, check, or cashier’s check. Checks should be made to WKU.
- Spots are limited. Selections are made based on quality of application.

Held during the fall and spring semesters, WKU students are given the opportunity to spend their breaks giving back to various community service projects. Alternative break trips incorporate cultural experiences along with opportunities to volunteer across the region. Past alternative breaks have included trips to Savannah, GA; Charleston, SC; Memphis, TN; Tuscaloosa, AL; Mobile, AL; New Orleans, LA; Washington D.C.; and Chicago, IL. Students are selected on their previous community service work and level of involvement and commitment.
