Fall 2025

Courses are listed by grade levels and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please read the appropriate class descriptons for your student and note your top three choices. When registering, you will submit the student’s top three class choices.  If the top (#1) choice is filled, they will be placed in the next available class. Students will be in the same class for all three Saturdays.

Please note there is a waitlist for classes that are filled based on payment status and choices selected. Students will be added if any openings become available. Families will be reimbursed if none of their choices can be accommodated.

Grade 1 

1. Amazing Science Lab – Lyndsey Duke-Brooks
This class has been filled.
As junior chemists, we will explore colors, solids, liquids, gases, polymers, chemical reactions, and so much more. Through minds-on experiments, you will become a scientist. No fancy laboratory is required! Note: This class does have some messy experiments.

Grades 1 & 2

2. The Art of Nature – Sarah Lynch
This class has been filled.
Calling all artists! Create nature-inspired art while learning the science behind that nature. We will have so much fun investigating connections among science, nature, and art. I can’t wait to explore and create with you!

3. The Great Escape – Michelle Eversole
This class has been filled.
Each week we will explore various escape room adventures, use our math skills to uncover the secret codes and try to escape before time runs out!   Will we crack the code and escape?  Adventures await, come join the fun to find out! 

4. Inspired by Critters, Created by You – Haley Kirtley
This class has been filled.
Join us on a colorful journey where animals inspire creativity in many exciting ways! As a young artist, you’ll explore and practice with different art mediums like painting, drawing, and collage while creating your favorite animals. Through fun, hands-on projects, we will discover how to bring animals to life using our imagination and a variety of artistic tools. Get ready to create, explore, and have fun with art and animals!

5. Making Math-terpieces  – Allison Cowles
This class has been filled.
Did you know artists are also great mathematicians? From shapes and patterns to symmetry and proportions, art and math go hand in hand! Join us to learn how artists use math in many different ways to create their masterpieces. Get ready to draw, paint, or shape your “math-terpiece”! I can’t wait to create with you! 

6. Picture-Perfect Science – Gayle Cooper
This class has been filled.
Do you ever look at the world around you and ask: Why does it work that way?  How tall can I build this tower?  Why do birds look so different?  Well, if you love reading silly stories, building tall buildings, rolling objects down ramps, designing pollinators, or choosing the best bird beak shape, and so much more, then this is the class for you!  We will use a blend of science and literacy to learn more about the world around us!

7. Pirate Adventure and Hidden Treasures – Ellaine Thornberry
This class has been filled.
Ahoy, mateys! Let's take a trip on the high seas for pirate adventures. We will sail back to the days of deserted islands, secret treasure maps, and hidden gold. All pirates will design their own pirate flags, make treasure maps, and hunt for gold. Come aboard and let's discover treasures and adventures galore. Young pirates will be using reading, math, art, and geography skills in this class. ARGGHHH!

8. The Science of Thrills: Designing an Amusement Park of Fun  – Candace Davis
This class has been filled.
Explore the exciting world of amusement parks through hands-on STEAM activities. Let's build a mini roller coaster, combine art and math to create a 3D ride, and explore energy and sound. Each day encourages creativity, problem-solving, and sharing discoveries.

9. Science in Art? Who Knew? – Melody Haase
This class has been filled.
Explore and create art through science and experiments. Discover the science in art and the art in science by testing colors and conducting experiments while you create art. Come ready to get messy and have some arty fun! 

 

Grades 2 & 3

10. Acting – Julie Boggess
This class has been filled.
Are you interested in trying out for a play or perhaps learning how you can improve the times you share your ideas in class? You will have fun participating in acting games that help develop the skills needed for acting and speaking. By the end of the three sessions, you will perform a monologue for your parents.

11. Be a Math Magician! – Nicole Taylor
This class has been filled.
Would you like to be a Mathmagician? Do you get excited at the thought of solving problems? Join us on a mathematical odyssey that includes games, puzzles, mysteries, and magic. Each week we will explore math using a fun, minds-on, hands-on approach. Let's wave our mathmagic wands, develop our mathmagical powers, and astound our friends and family!

12. Deep Sea Discoverers – Leslie Allen
This class has been filled.
Dive into the wonders of the deep sea in this exciting class! Students will explore fascinating marine creatures, mysterious underwater landscapes, and the science behind ocean exploration. Through engaging activities and hands-on projects, they’ll uncover the secrets of one of Earth’s most amazing habitats.

13. The Science Chef: Food Experiments and Fun Recipes for Kids – Madison Staton
This class has been filled.
Step into the kitchen and discover the magic of science with The Science Chef! In this hands-on class, you’ll explore exciting food experiments that teach you how science works in the kitchen. From learning why onions make you cry to discovering how cupcakes rise in the oven, each class will focus on different science topics, followed by a fun recipe that you can make and taste! You'll get to experiment with cool scientific ideas like fermentation, plant growth, and how acids and bases help baking happen—all while whipping up delicious treats.

14. Share the Arts, Rhythm, and Happiness  – Miwon Choe
This class has been filled.
Telling stories through art, music, and movement is a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t forget, especially when the story is told by determined creative friends and international authors you will meet along the way. So, come prepared for a creative adventure as this class is for ambitious little big artists and musicians to explore exciting multimedia tools to create, paint, cut, clap, and tap using color, line, texture, and rhythm. Of course, a smile and happiness are a must for the final performance and presentation.

15. Spy Training Academy – Sara Spear
This class has been filled.
Calling all Junior Spies! The Junior Spy Training Academy is about to be in session, and we are looking for curious and creative minds to explore spy science. We’ll learn how to create invisible ink messages, make a cipher to solve codes, and create our own secret codes (we must keep our secrets safe!). Our special training will also include detective work such as dusting for fingerprints, using chromatography to test ink samples, building a pom-pom shooter to create a diversion, and other techniques to navigate the spy world. Who is ready to uncover the science behind spying, complete the academy, and get an official Spy School Training certificate?

 

Grades 3 & 4

16. Logic Puzzles – Sarah Partin
This class has been filled.
This class is perfect for anyone who enjoys solving logic puzzles! Prepare to dive into solving and creating logic puzzles involving whole numbers and fractions. You will have an opportunity to create physical models of your puzzles bringing hands-on fun and creativity.

17. Mission Mars: Rover Challenge  – Kayla Spurgeon
This class has been filled.
Blast off into an exciting STEAM adventure as you design, build, and test your own Mars Rover! In this hands-on class, students will become NASA engineers solving real-world challenges. You'll observe Mars terrain, draw your own blueprint, build a prototype, and test your rover's performance. Get ready to explore, create, and launch your way to Mars!

18. Mock Trials – Harmony Hendrick
This class has been filled.
Are you interested in the court system and how trials are run? If so, this class is for you! Join us as we explore the court system, learn the parts of a trial, and act it all out in your day in court. We will participate in two mock trials where you will have important roles. Be ready to play your part and see that justice is served!

19. STEAM in the Park: National Park Edition – Amanda Rupsch
This class has been filled.
Do you like to solve problems? Do you like to visit and learn about new places? In this "STEAM in the PARK" class, we will explore several national parks to learn about their unique wildlife, history, and landmarks. Each of these parks face challenges that need to be solved. Each class will take one or more of these real-life problems from the park and use makerspace supplies and the engineering design process to develop possible solutions. Some of these ideas and designs will be shared with park rangers to inspire change.

 

Grades 4 & 5

20. Junior Journalists: Broadcast News and More! – Shawn Quinn
This class has been filled.
In this class, we will learn about filming, recording, editing, and producing news stories! As a broadcaster, you will gain knowledge on how to put special effects into stories while strengthening valuable speaking skills. Join us for some fun and make some NEWS!

21. STEM in Sports – Tara Tinsley
This class has been filled.
Get ready to dive into the exciting world where science meets sports! In this high-energy class, each week we’ll explore a different sport and uncover the STEM behind it—like the physics of a perfect soccer kick, the math behind a basketball shot, or the engineering of a football helmet. Every session wraps up with a hands-on STEM challenge that puts your skills to the test. It’s fast-paced, fun, and perfect for young athletes and curious minds alike!

22. Talking Hands: Basics of American Sign Language – Holly Bryant
This class has been filled.
In this class, we will learn the beginning basics of American Sign Language. We will focus on the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, foods, and school vocabulary. We will play hands-on games and practice "voice-off" immersion in respect to the Deaf community and their culture. Come ready to stretch the mind and the hands while we learn a new language together!

 

Grades 4, 5, & 6

23. The Art Lab – Sydney Young
This class has been filled.
Nurture your creative mind by learning different art styles! This class will focus on stained glass, mosaics, and illuminated letters! Create a unique piece of art each week and explore different techniques and art processes using various mixed media such as acrylic, watercolor, coloring pencils, specialty paper, and more! Can’t wait to see you there!

24. Discovering Russian Language and Culture  – Ekaterina Myakshina
Come join us on an adventure into the Russian language and culture! We’ll discover games, explore unique songs and dance, and learn to speak everyday words for family, animals, numbers, groceries, and more in Russian! You’ll watch animated versions of Russian folk tales and paint your very own Matryoshka (nesting doll). Every week brings something new and exciting as we explore the language and culture together!

 

Grades 5 & 6

25. Aerodynamics of Rocketry, the Magnus Effect, and Parachute Systems – Ecil Miller 
This class has been filled.
This course explores the fascinating world of aerodynamics through three key topics: rocketry (straw and compressed air), the Magnus effect, and parachute systems. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the forces at play in the design and performance of rocket-powered vehicles, the unique role of rotating bodies in altering airflow, and the principles behind effective parachute design and deployment.

26. Introduction to 3D Printing – Jennifer Emberton
This class has been filled.
Dive into the exciting world of 3D printing in this hands-on, three-week class. Students will learn the fundamentals of 3D design using TinkerCAD, a user-friendly online platform. They'll explore the principles of 3D modeling, understand how 3D printers work, and create their own unique 3D designs. By the end of the course, each student will have designed and 3D printed their very own small-scale model. This class caters to all skill levels, from complete beginners to those with some prior experience in 3D design.

27. Lens Lessons – Lily Thompson

Are you a visual learner with an eye for the creative? Photography could be your new outlet. Join an award-winning professional photographer in a fun, hands-on dive into the art of photography. You’ll explore the ins and outs of how to document the world in front of you, letting your creativity guide you in taking your own photos no matter what camera you have in your hands. You’ll even build your OWN camera. Explore the world through the amazing art of photography!

28. Raiders of the Lost Code – Will King
This class has been filled.
Up for an adventure? Join us for "The Last Crusade"! But beware, our quest will take you straight into the Temple of Doom, where danger lurks around every corner! Learn coding strategies, master LEGO Robotics, and earn your CoDrone wings to navigate traps, enemies, and hazards as you seek to recover priceless world artifacts!

29. STEM Showdown Challenges  – Laura Leeper
This class has been filled.
Are you ready to show off your innovative skills and become a STEM superstar? Join the STEM Showdown Challenges class, where you’ll collaborate with fellow students who share your interests to tackle awesome challenges using everyday items from home and your creative ideas. Each Saturday, you’ll design, build, and test cool prototypes that use important scientific and engineering principles. Please join us and let your imagination and engineering skills shine! Don’t miss this exciting adventure into the amazing world of science and creativity.
