TRIO SSS Eligibility & Expectations
Participation in TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) requires application and admission through a competitive process where students with the highest need for academic support are prioritized.
Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (alien or refugee seeking citizenship) are eligible if they fit at least one of the following criteria:
- FIRST GENERATION STUDENT
- (A) a student whose natural or adoptive parents did not complete a bachelor's degree
- (B) a student who regularly lived with and received support from only one parent who did not earn a bachelor's degree
- (C) a student who did not regularly live with or receive support from a natural or adoptive parent
- STUDENT WITH LIMITED INCOME
- Based on taxable income and household size as reported on the FAFSA
- Based on taxable income and household size as reported on the FAFSA
- STUDENT WITH A REGISTERED DISABILITY OR DIAGNOSIS
- Must be registed with the WKU Student Accessibility Resource Center (SARC)
- Must be registed with the WKU Student Accessibility Resource Center (SARC)
- STUDENT WITH NEED FOR ACADEMIC SUPPORT
- Determined by SSS using information submitted with application
EXPECTATIONS
Students admitted to SSS are encouraged to stay engaged with the program for maximum benefits. To remain in the program, they must:
- Complete the orientation session
- Update needs assessment and success plan each year
- Complete 2+ services per year
- Meet with assigned coordinator
- Attend one of our many events
