Understand common behavioral changes with dementia, identify potential triggers, and implement strategies to reduce distress and improve the quality of life for those 
affected by dementia

Provide information for Veterans and family members in navigating Veterans benefits; obtain valuable resources/forms/contact persons for Veteran services 

10:45 – 11:45   Silent Suffering: Addressing Isolation, Loneliness and Suicide in Aging Populations, Laura M. Frey, Ph.D., LMFT 


Discuss the scope of suicide;  define differences, types of loneliness and stigma related to suicide; discuss unique risk and protective factors for and against suicide for 
the aging population; provide warning signs of suicide and relevant screening and assessment tools

12:45 – 1:45    BRADD Services and Senior Center Overview, Hollie Smith,  Assistant Director of Aging 

Provide a general understanding of the services provided through BRADD and how these services assist the aging population in regards to socialization and prevention 
of loneliness; learn how to contact BRADD office;  learn the origin of senior centers and their funding; understand the evolution of senior centers over time and genera
tions; learn the future goals of senior centers and their contribution to the aging popluation

Provide information regarding financial fraud schemes; help seniors protect themselves from scams; raise awareness of scams and how to report to law enforcement
