KTH Rooftop Observatory

The Kelly Thompson Hall (KTH) Rooftop Observatory, formerly known as the TCCW Rooftop Observatory, holds 9 concrete piers where 4” equatorial reflectors, that live in the dome, can be attached for public viewing.  There is room for roughly 75 people in attendance on the rooftop slab, and a Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 Telescope is usually setup with a large flatscreen TV for live astrophotography viewing.

The main feature of the KTH rooftop is the KTH Rooftop Observatory.  Constructed in (retrieving data), the dome doors open horizontally via a manual crank, and the dome itself smoothly rotates via electronic motors throughout the night.  The dome hosts a 12.5” Astrola f/16 Cassegrain, installed in (retrieving data).  The scope’s RA and Dec motors have been rebuilt by (retrieving data) in (retrieving data).
