Our latest research indicates that Montana does not require professional licensure or certification in Accountancy to operate within the state. Completing this program alone will not make you a licensed professional accountant in any state.
To become a Certified Public Accountant, you must:
Complete 150 semester hours of education.
Pass the CPA Exam.
Meet other state-specific and professional requirements (e.g., examinations, background checks, years of experience, etc.) as necessary.
Please note that licensure requirements can change. We strongly recommend that prospective and current students directly consult the Montana Board of Public Accountants (https://boards.bsd.dli.mt.gov/public-accountants/) to confirm all current licensure/certification requirements. For information on licensure/certification in other states, please also consult their relevant state licensing boards.
