Accreditation

As a WKU Online student, you are a Hilltopper who can earn a degree from a fully accredited university.

SACSOC LOGO

Since 1926, Western Kentucky University has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Our accreditation is reviewed and reaffirmed every ten years so that we can continue to award associate, baccalaureate, master's, educational specialist, and doctorate degrees. Western Kentucky University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.

Questions about the accreditation of Western Kentucky University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC's website (www.sacscoc.org).

Additional Program Accreditations and Memberships

In addition to WKU's regional accreditation through SACSCOC, many of WKU's programs have met additional standards of accreditation or approval by professional organizations. See our undergraduate and graduate program-specific accreditation pages for more information.

For questions about programs and State Licensure requirements, see our licensure page where you can conveniently search by state or program.
