• Problem solves testing emergencies and troubleshoots computer hardware or software and testing issues with WKU Distance Learning faculty/staff and/or WKU ITS.
• Cross-trains and assists with admissions, placement, and certification exams.
• Cross-trains and assists with Distance Learning Testing Center on-site services.
• Reports any irregularities within the testing offices, centers, and off-site locations.
• Works Saturdays, weekly evening shifts, and extended testing hours during peak times (example: midterms and finals week)

Western Kentucky University is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for the position of Senior Maintenance Technician. The person in this position oversees facilities maintenance and cleaning services for all aspects of the building and the grounds at WKU in Glasgow and WKU in Owensboro Regional Campuses. The position is based from Glasgow. Supervising a small staff of custodial and maintenance employees, the person is responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, and Electrical equipment and accessories in buildings, as well as campus grounds and other duties as assigned. The position works frequently at computers and with approved WKU vendors to provide some services. This position primarily works Monday-Friday on an adjusted schedule of 6:30 am - 3 pm and reports to the Director, Regional Campuses.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs computer work such as e-mails, spreadsheets, word processing, and internet parts research to order supplies, check on HVAC systems, schedule employees, and complete and maintain accurate work time and materials records
• Serves as on-point and billing liaison for university-approved contractors for grounds care, snow removal, HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical, and other service technicians.
• Keeps routine of replacements and safety checks for both campuses, including checking mechanical rooms, performance, filter replacements and coil cleaning of HVAC units, eyewash/shower stations, AEDs, light bulbs, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, and exit signs
• Supervises full-time custodial staff and performs some light custodial work as a backup and supervises a part-time maintenance staff
• Repairs fixtures and maintains campus buildings, including damaged walls, occasional painting, and light carpentry work, ceiling tiles, window blinds, and tile and baseboards
• Maintains and repairs basic wiring, light machinery, and electrical circuits and replaces switch plates and ballasts
• Replaces broken plumbing fixtures and repairs valves, faucets, traps, and other sanitary fixtures
• Collaborates with other WKU departments, including serving as BEST Team Member
• Meets all safety requirements and adheres to standard safety procedures

Purpose of Position

Assist supervisor in assigning, scheduling, and ensuring all corrective and preventative maintenance functions are being performed in an accurate and safe manner. Provides guidance to maintenance technicians in their area of responsibility and ensure quality control / assurance of work activities. General Maintenance Technician Lead works in a multi-functional team made up of electricians, plumbers, and other skilled maintenance team members to provide complete maintenance to campus buildings.   A person participating in this dynamic team environment performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical equipment and other facility components ,furnishings and furniture. These duties are performed either on a day shift, a weekend shift or another alternative shift based on the needs of the University.

• Performs general carpentry work in the maintenance of buildings, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, door locks, windows and screens
• Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices to repair, replace and reassemble equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently such as fan coils, air handling units, unit ventilators, pumps, motors, exhaust fans and other related equipment
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment as well as locates and corrects power failures and short circuits
• Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists
• Efficient and timely use of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program and ability to record type and cost of maintenance or repair work

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

• Performs general plumbing repair to include installing, maintaining and repairing valves, faucets, traps and other sanitary fixtures, as well as maintaining piping systems by opening clogged drains and replacing washers on leaky faucets
• Performs routine preventative maintenance to the interior of buildings such as installing/changing various lamps and ballasts in building light fixtures and laying floor tile and installing ceiling tile to ensure the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
• Performs general carpentry work in the maintenance of buildings, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, door locks, windows and screens
• Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices to repair, replace and reassemble equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently such as fan coils, air handling units, unit ventilators, pumps, motors, exhaust fans and other related equipment
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment as well as locates and corrects power failures and short circuits
• Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists
• Efficient and timely use of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program and ability to record type and cost of maintenance or repair work
• Performs maintenance and repair to facility furnishes and furniture.
• Promotes safe work practices within team and across campus
• Operates University vehicles
• Overtime hours may be required during emergencies, openings, closings, special events

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains excellent communication/customer service with Building Coordinators and all other DFM team members
• Communicates bi-laterally with other maintenance teams, central trades groups, as well as other DFM team members to coordinate work activities between groups
• Performs any other general maintenance functions including housekeeping, landscaping and related duties as required
• Maintains cleanliness and order of job sites, mechanical rooms and any storage space ensuring safety codes are met if required
• Responsible for security, proper care and upkeep of all equipment and materials used in the course of completing assigned tasks including tools, machinery, and vehicles
• Performs other duties during routine work, preventative maintenance, summer blitz, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan and special projects as assigned

The Western Kentucky University Head Start/Early Head Start  Program is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for the position of Specialist, WKUCCC Education & Disability. Regular activities include working with young children and families of diverse backgrounds and working collaboratively and cooperatively with community organizations and individuals. This is a grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon need/funding. The successful candidate will:

• Design, implement, coordinate, evaluate and monitor early childhood education, child development and disability services as required by Head Start/Early Head Start. 
• Supervise the Instructional Coach and work collaboratively with other Head Start/Early Head Start management staff and staff from other agencies to ensure quality services for children and families. 
• Conduct individual child observations, CLASS observations, classroom assessments, monitor screening and assessments, implement the curriculum, and coordinate with staff, parents, professionals, and other agencies to ensure that children who need special services get them.
• Offer guidance and follow up to staff and parents, coordinate training for staff and ensure licensing regulations are followed.
• Work within the University to establish partnerships, collaborative experiences, and coordinate student observers, while adhering to WKUCCC goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
• Other duties in support of other management team members when needed. 

• Bachelor degree in early childhood education, child studies, or a related degree. 
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and record-keeping skills are necessary.

A Group X Instructor is responsible for leading safe and the effective group fitness classes in the dance studio and/or pool to WKU students, faculty and staff. Instructors must be able to effectively design and lead classes that are challenging, safe and fun. This is a temporary part-time position that will be filled on an as needed basis throughout each year.
