Dr. Sarah L. Napper is a victimization scholar who approaches questions of criminality and victimization from a criminological and victimological lens. She received her B.S. and M.A. in Criminology from the University of West Georgia and her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Georgia State University.
Her primary interest in research and education are in the areas of victimization with specific focus on the LGBQT+ community and other marginalized groups, victimization and mental health consequences, the use of victim services among college students, IPV among juveniles and college students, and Greek life in the context of sexual victimization. Her work has appeared in The Journal of School Violence, The Pursuit, Victims and Offenders, The Social Science Journal, Drug & Alcohol Review, and Criminal Justice Review.
In the classroom, Dr. Napper relies on real world applications and hands-on assessments. She teaches core and elective courses in criminology related to the topics of victimization and victim advocacy, gender studies, introduction to criminal justice, and criminological theory. She is dedicated, and a goal-driven educator committed to her students’ personal, academic, and professional growth in and outside the classroom.
