The Ogden College of Science and Engineering at WKU will celebrate its 60th anniversary during the 2025-2026 academic year.
In 1965, WKU reorganized its academic programs into five schools and colleges, one of which was the Ogden College of Science and Technology. In this phase, Ogden College consisted of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture, Geography & Geology, and Mathematics.
The college, since renamed Ogden College of Science & Engineering (OCSE), is currently the home of the departments of Agriculture & Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Earth, Environmental, & Atmospheric Sciences, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychological Sciences, as well as the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
“As I like to say, Ogden – the O is for Opportunity,” said Dr. David N. Brown, Dean of OCSE. “Ogden College in its modern form has been providing quality education for sixty years, helping students not only with book learning, but with opportunities to cement that learning with hands-on experience. Students’ lives have been transformed by their Ogden education, and those students in turn have transformed their communities. I’m so proud of what our students, staff, and faculty do.”
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the college will be hosting OgdenCon, a mini-conference event on Friday, October 31st, in conjunction with WKU’s Homecoming on November 1st. The event will consist of updates from both faculty and students, highlighting exciting advances in the college while also allowing attendees to reflect on Ogden’s past and look forward to its future. Faculty, staff, alumni, and friends are encouraged to attend.
More events celebrating OCSE’s 60th anniversary will be popping up throughout the year, engaging faculty, staff, and students.
