Western Kentucky University will host the Accessibility Awareness Fair on Wednesday, September 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Mall. The event is organized by The RADAR Project (Raising Awareness of Disability and Neurodiversity at WKU) and is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members.
The Accessibility Awareness Fair is designed to raise awareness about accessibility on campus and in the broader community, highlighting the importance of creating environments where everyone can thrive. The event will feature interactive exhibits such as virtual reality accessibility demonstrations, mobility challenges, and assistive technology displays, alongside educational resources and opportunities for participants to explore accessibility in education, technology, campus life, and community engagement.
“This event is about more than raising awareness; it’s about sparking conversations and fostering understanding,” said Jimmie Martin, Director of Student Support Services – Disability. “Accessibility impacts everyone, and by coming together, we can build a more supportive and inclusive community.”
The fair will also connect attendees with campus resources and organizations dedicated to supporting accessibility initiatives, including services that empower individuals with disabilities to achieve academic and personal success. The Accessibility Awareness Fair marks the first annual event in the RADAR Project’s ongoing accessibility awareness series, which will continue with additional events throughout the year.
