Western Kentucky University is proud to announce the launch of the RADAR Project (Raising Awareness of Disability and Neurodiversity at WKU), a collaborative initiative designed to enhance accessibility, advocacy, and student success across campus. The project brings together Student Support Services – Disability (SSS-D), the Student Accessibility Resource Center (SARC), the Kelly Autism Program (KAP), and the Faculty/Staff Neurodiversity Alliance (F/S NDA) to create a united front in promoting a supportive environment for our students.
The RADAR Project was developed to address the growing need for visibility and awareness around accessibility and disability resources at WKU. By combining the expertise and dedication of multiple campus programs, the initiative aims to build a stronger support system that empowers students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
“This project represents the heart of WKU’s mission: ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and celebrated for their strengths,” said Jimmie Martin, Director of Student Support Services – Disability. “By uniting our efforts, we can better advocate for change, raise awareness, and provide resources that make a lasting impact on our campus community.”
The RADAR Project will officially launch with the first annual Accessibility Awareness Fair on September 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Mall. The fair will feature interactive exhibits—including virtual reality accessibility demonstrations, mobility challenges, and assistive technology displays—alongside opportunities for students, faculty, and community members to connect with accessibility resources.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to get involved with the RADAR Project by attending events or volunteering with accessibility-focused initiatives throughout the year.
