Getting Connected
The WKU Wireless Network has been designed to provide ease of use for the majority of our clients while still retaining flexibility and advanced features for the more demanding clients. The network infrastructure is based on 802.11 standard wireless technologies. We utilize several mechanisms to aid in authentication and security of the wireless network.
Networks
WKU currently offers three different wireless networks each with a different set of features to cater to various needs and use cases. These networks were developed to meet the needs of the diverse user population that the University maintains.
WKU-SECURE
- Access for WKU Faculty/Staff/Students
- More secure wireless experience for devices that meet the minimum requirements to access this network.
WKU-WIRELESS
- Access for WKU Faculty/Staff/Students
- Access for Guest Accounts
- Ideal for devices that are not capable of utilizing the higher security network WKU-SECURE
WKU-GUEST
- Access for guests of the University
- Not intended for WKU Faculty/Staff/Students
