Path to the Hill
Make the most of your WKU Dual Credit courses by following a Path to the Hill.
Each career pathway will lay out which WKU Dual Credit courses are most beneficial for you based off of your interests. These coordinated course offerings are designed to give you a head start to your career. Depending on your path, you can make progress toward graduation at WKU, an industry recognized certificate, and/or a licensure.
WKU Dual Credit Pathways
These pathways include Dual Credit courses. Dual Credit courses are college courses that you may take at your high school or enroll in online that offer college credit upon successful completion.
The Dual Credit General Education Pathway is designed to help you earn credits toward the thirty-three Kentucky General Education Core required for an associate or bachelor degree. These core courses are accepted by any public Kentucky university per Kentucky’s General Education Transfer Policy. Most universities located in contiguous states also accept these courses.
It is always advisable to work with your guidance counselor or college counselor to make sure that your dual credit courses will transfer to the college you plan to attend. Whenever possible, you will also want to choose courses that will satisfy pre-major requirements for the program of study you plan to pursue.
You can use the two dual credit scholarships for any course in this pathway. The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship can be used for a number of courses.
If you plan on attending WKU, you can utilize this checklist of Colonnade courses.
Note: this is a model pathway outline. Each high school will develop its own pathway
based on the dual credit courses offered.
The Dual Credit Teaching and Learning Pathway focuses on the general theory and practice of learning and teaching, the basic principles of educational psychology, the art of teaching, the planning and administration of educational activities, school safety and health issues, and the social foundations of education.
