WKU Offering New Certificate for AI and Educational Technology
- Monday, September 29th, 2025

As Artificial Intelligence becomes more commonplace in school settings, the WKU College of Education and Behavioral Sciences has developed a new graduate certificate for educators of all grade levels to learn the skills to provide effective implementation and use of artificial intelligence (AI), educational technology, best practices in online learning, and cybersecurity in education.
The Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technology Leader is a fully online program that can be completed in one year. Five classes totaling 15 credit hours are required. The program has rolling admissions, so students can apply at any time. This certificate can be rolled into other graduate programs in the School of Teacher Education for those who want to earn a master’s degree.
This program is designed to prepare you for leadership roles in K–12 education, higher education, educational technology, training and development, and beyond. By the end of the certificate, you’ll be able to:
· Use artificial intelligence tools and emerging technologies to make teaching more engaging and effective in different learning environments.
· Apply advanced teaching models using best practices in online and blended learning to improve collaboration and accessibility.
· Evaluate new innovations in AI and educational technology and put them into practice in ways that meet the diverse needs of learners.
· Understand the key cybersecurity challenges in education and create strategies to keep digital learning spaces safe and ethical.
· Design curriculum updates that integrate AI and educational technology in meaningful ways.
· Create learning experiences that personalize education, boost student outcomes, and solve real-world instructional challenges.
