WKU Board of Regents Approves Faculty Promotions, Tenure and Academic Appointments

The Western Kentucky University Board of Regents convened a special called meeting today (May 8), to consider Academic Affairs items related to faculty promotion, tenure and academic appointments. The meeting took place in the Regents Room of Jody Richards Hall.
At the recommendation of WKU President Timothy C. Caboni, the Board unanimously approved a comprehensive slate of faculty personnel actions, all of which will go into effect on July 1, 2025. These actions reflect WKU’s continued investment in faculty excellence and its dedication to advancing high-quality teaching, meaningful research and service across all academic colleges.
“These faculty members have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to our students, our university and their disciplines,” said President Caboni. “The Board’s approval today recognizes their many contributions and the important role they play in shaping the WKU experience. Their promotion and tenure reflect our ongoing efforts to attract, retain and support world-class educators and scholars.”
Among the approvals were:

Tenure and Promotion to Associate Professor, including faculty in Physical Therapy, Marketing, Earth & Environmental Sciences, and English.

Tenure and Promotion to Pedagogical Associate Professor, recognizing outstanding teaching-focused faculty.

Tenure Awards in key areas such as Psychological Sciences and Kinesiology.

Promotion to Professor, recognizing senior faculty members from departments including Teacher Education, Management, History, Music, and Physics.

Promotions across various faculty ranks, such as Pedagogical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Senior Instructor, and Instructor II.

Initial appointments with tenure
The faculty promoted and granted tenure represent a wide range of disciplines, underscoring the university’s broad academic portfolio and its commitment to enriching the student experience through rigorous and supportive instruction.
Prior to the special called meeting, the Board of Regents convened for regularly scheduled committee meetings.
The Board will reconvene for its second quarterly meeting of the calendar year on June 6, 2025.
