Presenting your research at a conference? The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) Dean’s Office can help fund your trip! This award helps cover your travel and registration costs so you can share your hard work.

Remember to also seek funding from other sources, like your academic department, the Honors College, Gatton Academy, or the Graduate School.

How to Get Your Funding: A 4-Step Guide

The process is a team effort between you, your faculty mentor, and your department.

1

Your Mentor Applies for You

Your faculty mentor must complete and submit the CEBS Student Travel Funding Request.

  • Deadline: At least 45 days before your trip.
  • Required Document: Proof that you have submitted your proposal to the conference.
2

Wait for a Decision

The Dean’s Office will notify you, your mentor, and your department of the decision within 30 days.

  • To release funds: You must provide documentation that your conference proposal has been accepted.
3

Plan Your Trip

Once approved, you can start using the funds for registration fees, lodging, and other travel costs that follow WKU policies.

  • Going over budget? If your expenses will exceed the award amount, you must talk with your home department before making any purchases.
4

Submit Final Paperwork

Within two weeks of returning from your trip, give your home department all outstanding receipts and proof that you attended the conference.

A Few More Things to Know

Share Your Work at Home! Award recipients are strongly encouraged to participate in research events like the CEBS Student Poster Session and the WKU Student Scholar Showcase.

Attention Faculty: If you are mentoring 5 or more students requesting funds for the same conference, please contact the CEBS Dean's Office before any applications are submitted.
