Warren “Wawa” Snipe

Warren “Wawa” Snipe is an acclaimed Deaf hip-hop recording artist, actor, producer, and cultural visionary best known for pioneering “Dip Hop” —Hip Hop through Deaf eyes. Based in the Washington, DC/MD/VA area, Wawa has been redefining music, performance, and accessibility since 2005 by merging rhythm, visual storytelling, and American Sign Language into an electrifying artistic experience that bridges Deaf and hearing communities.
Born profoundly deaf, Wawa transformed what society often labels a limitation into his greatest strength. His music and performances challenge perceptions, celebrate Deaf culture, and amplify voices historically excluded from mainstream entertainment. Over his career, he has released multiple projects, including Deaf: So What?!, Wamilton, and Unapologetically ___, each reflecting themes of resilience, identity, and empowerment.
Wawa’s work has reached global audiences through landmark performances, including historic ASL renditions of The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful at Super Bowl LV, followed by a return to the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show —a groundbreaking moment for Deaf representation on one of the world’s largest stages. As an actor, he has appeared in television series such as Black Lightning and Fear the Walking Dead, continuing to expand visibility for Deaf talent in film and television.
Beyond the stage and screen, Wawa is the Co-founder and CEO of WAWABILITY, a groundbreaking entertainment and cultural platform that celebrates disability, inclusion, and innovation. WAWABILITY brings together artists, creators, corporations, and communities through festivals, summits, and immersive experiences designed to normalize accessibility and spotlight excellence across all abilities.
Through every verse, performance, and initiative, Wawa continues to lead a movement—proving that accessibility fuels creativity and that representation changes culture.
