- Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome back to campus for a new academic year at Western Kentucky University. It continues to be an exciting time to be a part of the WKU community. Over the last year, together we made significant strides toward our mission of serving students, advancing research, and providing meaningful service to strengthen both our university, the region, and the state. Our momentum continues, and I am confident that the year ahead will bring even greater accomplishments.
Most importantly, our faculty and staff are at the heart of this progress. Your dedication has helped us recruit and support students from across Kentucky and beyond, expand academic programs that meet the needs of a changing workforce, and graduate Hilltoppers prepared to thrive in their careers and communities.
You also advanced discovery through research and creative activity that improves lives, strengthens communities, and positions WKU for a future of even greater impact. Whether through securing competitive grants, mentoring student researchers, or fostering innovation in classrooms and labs, your work reflects our growing role as a university that changes students’ lives.
And your service, whether to your departments, our campus community, or the region we proudly call home, continues to embody the WKU spirit. It is through your commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service that we are building a stronger university together.
As we look to the new year, let us carry forward the momentum of your achievements and the energy of our shared mission. Thank you for your dedication, your creativity, and your unwavering commitment to making WKU a place where students succeed, research thrives, and communities are strengthened.
With deep appreciation,
Bud Fischer
